Winning may not be everything at this early stage of pre-season but the
late John Terry goal which completed the comeback from two goals down
against AFC Wimbledon was still welcomed enthusiastically by Chelsea
players, coaches and fans watching on.


It was the captain who, with eight other players, was introduced at
half-time who began the turnaround by tapping in after a corner bounced
off an opponent before Mohamed Salah levelled the scores. Terry headed the
winner in the 89th-minute to make the final score 3-2 in the second
pre-season game.


Assistant first team coach Steve Holland reflected on the contribution
made by the highest scoring defender in the club's history.


'It is something that John Terry has always done throughout his career and
it's a big bonus if your defenders can win a match from a set-play
situation, and both of John's goals were. Long may it continue.'


The two corners were delivered by 19-year-old midfielder Lewis Baker, as
was the pass from which Salah scored, with Terry telling Chelsea TV after
the game:


'He [Baker] puts a great ball in, it was a great delivery, and I said to
him if he hits it at the first post I will be get there, and thankfully I
did get there and we won the game.'


Baker, speaking to the official Chelsea website, confirmed: 'John Terry
said to me it was a great ball.


'The manager said at half-time for us to step up the tempo and that is
what we did and we managed to break Wimbledon down. In the second half we
played quicker but we also had to last 90 minutes in the heat and we did
well in the second half.


'There are a lot of young boys in this pre-season at the moment and we all
try to do our best when we are with the first team. An impression is what
we have to make and in the second half we did.'


Holland also discussed Marco van Ginkel who followed up his 45 minutes at
Wycombe with 69 minutes on Saturday afternoon.


'Marco has worked fantastically hard to come back from an awful injury at
Swindon and has had a long road back but he has done magnificently well,
well enough to be involved in the Dutch squad's training just before the
World Cup.


'He is accumulating games and he is looking stronger every game, and it is
really important he gets a good pre-season.


'It is early days for the squad,' Holland added. 'We are still using 21
players over the two halves and the second-half team did better than the
first-half team did this time, but it was still an opportunity to see a
lot of the players we don't usually get to see at this time of year. The
good thing about this game is that the lads kept going and showed good
spirit to recover the game.


'On Monday we get the Spanish players, Gary Cahill and Filipe Luis into
the squad and slowly it will take shape as the weeks go on.'

Holland）的說法，盧卡庫也會隨隊前往。

賽季的藍軍中佔有一席之地。但截至到現在，老將切赫的情況仍不明確。在切爾西逆
轉溫布爾登的比賽中他也沒有出場，目前，這位捷克門神仍在恢復之中。


對此，霍蘭德說：“切赫的傷勢恢復情況非常好，比計劃還要提前，不久後他就
能完全恢復歸隊了。”
