On May 24th, L’Equipe published an article seriously questioning Laurent Kosc
ielny’s future as an Arsenal player.
It was explained the Europa League Final against Chelsea in Baku could be the
defender’s last for the Gunners, especially if they lost and subsequently fai
led to qualify for the Champions League.
The 33 year old was ‘looking for a new challenge’. Talks had begun on an ext
ension with Arsenal, with no positive outcome yet, and Koscielny was said to f
eel he can continue at the highest level for ‘two or three more seasons’.
A move was becoming ‘more and more tempting’ for the Frenchman.
Bayer Leverkusen were presented as the most interested side, along with intere
st from AC Milan and AS Monaco.
Now Bild report Borussia Dortmund could be the Arsenal player’s destination.
The Bundesliga side see Koscielny as a ‘serious option’, and it’s claimed t
he Premier League club ‘want to get rid of him’.
Whilst his experience is seen as a plus, his age is a negative.
