Aaron Ramsey is to join Arsenal from FA Cup finalists Cardiff City in a ￡5m
deal, BBC Sport understands.
Champions League winners Manchester United and Premier League giants Everton
were also fighting to sign the 17-year-old Welsh wonderkid.
But Ramsey has chosen Arsenal after the Gunners flew him out to Switzerland
for face-to-face talks with boss Arsene Wenger, who is at Euro 2008.
Unlike United, the Arsenal deal does not include a loan back option.
Cardiff have confirmed that Arsenal' bid for their highly-rated youth academy
graduate was the "best cash offer" for the young star.
Ramsey, who has made just 22 appearance for the Championship side, is
expected to have a medical at Arsenal's plush Hertfordshire training ground
within the next 24 hours.
A Cardiff City statement read: "Cardiff City were informed on Friday morning
that Aaron Ramsey's preferred destination this summer is the Emirates Stadium
with Arsenal.
"We will now continue the dialogue with the Gunners with a view to Aaron's
move being completed.
"The move, unlike other options, does not include a loan back period at
Ninian Park for the 2008/09 season.
"We would like to wish Aaron every success in the top-flight."
Ramsey, the most wanted player outside the Premier League, was given a
welcome and a guided tour around Manchester United's state-of-the-art
training complex by Old Trafford captain Gary Neville last Friday.
The promising Wales Under-21 international youngster also spoke to Sir Alex
Ferguson on the telephone before Ramsey met Everton boss David Moyes.
The Caerphilly-born player was then flown on a private jet to Basel on
Saturday to meet with Wenger, who has beaten his old rival Ferguson to
Ramsey.

The most sought after youngster in England will make a decision on which club
he signs for in the next 48 hours. Cardiff City’s Aaron Ramsey has spent the
last week holding talks with three Premiership clubs over a possible
transfer, after Manchester United, Arsenal, and Everton all agreed a fee for
the 17 year old.

Ramsey has already been to United’s Carrington training centre, where he met
members of the clubs coaching staff before agreeing terms on a contract. On
Friday he met with David Moyes in Liverpool, where a second offer was put to
the talented prospect, leaving just a meeting with Arsenal left before he
would be given time to look over the deals.
On Saturday he spoke with Ken Friar and Steve Rowley, who thrashed out a deal
with Aaron, before he set of to meet Arsene Wenger in Switzerland. Arsenal
set up a first class private jet to whisk the Welshman and his agent across
Europe, before holding talks with Wenger in a hotel in Basle.
Manchester United managing director David Gill spoke as Ramsey jetted off,
saying he was confident of the deal, although Alex Ferguson failed to meet
the player, instead sending injured club captain Gary Neville to lure the
midfielder.

Cardiff City manager and chairman are hoping the level headed prospect joins
United, as they will send him back on loan to the Welsh capital for next
term. However the final choice of destination is up to the player himself.
