BAMFORD PICKS UP FOOTBALL LEAGUE AWARD
Posted on: Fri 24 Jan 2014
Patrick Bamford has won the Football League's Young Player of the Month
award for December following his performances on loan at previous club MK
Dons.
The award covers players that play in all three divisions of the Football
League, and is awarded to the player who has made the most significant
contribution and impact in first team football. Our young striker, now on
loan at Derby County, struck three goals during the month of December,
helping the MK Dons to victories over Wolves, Port Vale and Crawley Town.
In total, the 20-year-old scored 17 goals in 30 appearances in the first
half of this season before moving up a division, to Derby, at the
beginning of this month. He opened his account for the Rams on Saturday,
scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.
On receiving the award, Bamford said: 'Even though it is a team game and
you are always striving to do your best for the team, to get personal
awards is really nice. It was a great experience at MK Dons and a great
learning curve.'
