Lewis Baker has today joined League One side MK Dons on loan until the end
of the season.


The 19-year-old signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea in August and
made his debut as a substitute in last year's FA Cup third-round win at
Derby County. Baker also scored the goal which secured last season's
Barclays Under-21 Premier League title.


He also won the club's 2013/14 Young Player of the Year and Goal of the
Season awards, and earned a first England Under-21 call-up in October.

Chelsea midfielder reveals who inspired him to LEAVE Chelsea

LEWIS BAKER says Chelsea team-mate Patrick Bamford's successful spell at
MK Dons inspired him to join the League One side on loan.


Bamford, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, scored 18 goals in 37
appearances for the Dons two seasons ago. The striker has been tipped to
become part of Jose Mourinho's first team plans at Stamford Bridge and
Baker is looking to follow in his footsteps.


"Patrick's a great player and a great person," Baker said. "He's now in
the Championship and I personally think he could play in the Premier
League. He came here and did really well and hopefully I can too."


The Chelsea youngster has been drafted in as cover for the injured Dele
Alli, who is out for the next six weeks. Karl Robinson's side are in
contention for promotion and Baker is eager to aid their push for the
Championship.


He said: "I'm definitely exciting by this opportunity. This is a good club
and they're expecting to do big things between now and the end of the
season - it will be a good experience for me.


"I've learnt a lot this season training with the Chelsea first team on a
regular basis and I also enjoyed my time at Sheffield Wednesday. I've
gained valuable experience everywhere I've gone so far and hopefully that
will continue here.


"I scored a few goals last season so I hope to bring some of that to the
team. I'm always hard-working as well, I'll never quit and I'll always
give my all for the team."
