Maria Sharapova put on a dazzling display to break a head-to-head tie with
Victoria Azarenka and round out the final four line-up at the Internazionali
BNL d'Italia.

ROME, Italy - With the gorgeous Roman sunset lighting up the sky, Maria
Sharapova dazzled on center court at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome
on Friday night, powering past longtime rival Victoria Azarenka to round out
a blockbuster semifinal line-up at the Premier-level clay court event.

Sharapova and Azarenka have had a long, close history - coming into this one
they were 7-7 - but Sharapova always had the edge on clay, winning all three
of their previous meetings on the surface, and this one went the same way as
the No.3-seeded Russian was just too powerful and just too accurate, battling
an hour and 32 minutes to get past the unseeded Azarenka in straight sets,
6-3, 6-2.

Awaiting Sharapova in the semifinals will be the breakthrough star of the
tournament, Daria Gavrilova, who won an all-qualifier, all-WTA Rising Star
battle against Christina McHale earlier on, 6-2, 6-4.

Gavrilova actually beat Sharapova in the pair's only previous meeting,
scoring her first Top 10 win against her fellow Russian at Miami earlier this
year. She's picking up even more steam this week - she got her second Top 10
win against Ana Ivanovic a few rounds ago and is now in her first WTA
semifinal.

The other semifinal will pit Simona Halep against Carla Suárez Navarro,
after the No.2-seeded Halep ran off 11 straight games from 1-all to beat
Romanian qualifier Alexandra Dulgheru in 56 minutes, 6-1, 6-0, and the
No.10-seeded Suárez Navarro pulled off an upset over No.4-seeded Petra
Kvitova, 6-3, 6-2.

另一場四強則是Halep對CSN，二號種子Halep從1-1之後連下十一局打敗資格賽出線選手
杜潔如，十號種子CSN則擊退了四號種子Kvi。



Suárez Navarro has now beaten Kvitova four straight times, including all
three meetings this year.

CSN現在對Kvi已經四連勝了，包含今年三次遇到都是贏。

The Spaniard is also the first player to reach 30 WTA-level match wins on the
season.

這位西班牙選手（CSN）也是WTA本賽季第一位達成三十勝的選手。

"I played really solid today and sometimes aggressive, which is very
important against Petra because she's such an aggressive player herself," Suá
rez Navarro said. "I think overall this year I've been able to play more
aggressively. It's given me more confidence in my game - I just feel
stronger."

Halep leads Suárez Navarro in their head-to-head series, 5-4, and has won
their last three meetings.

"Whenever we play we have long rallies and long matches," Suárez Navarro
said. "She's playing really well right now, too. She's playing amazing - so
solid. It will be tough and I have to play my best."
