Report: Hawks 'shopping' first-round pick to make a playoff push

When the Atlanta Hawks are on the clock with the sixth overall pick in the

According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Hawks are reportedly shopping
the sixth overall pick in hopes to add help around point guard Trae Young.
The organization wants to try to win now and make a push toward the playoffs
and are targeting players that fit that mold.

Of course, a player added through the draft that will likely need a year or
two of development may not help expedite their timeline of returning to the
playoffs so they could look to move out of the sixth spot. In addition, the
Hawks will also apparently be aggressive in free agency.

The Hawks are shopping their first-round pick and intend to push for the
playoffs, according to multiple league sources. Expect them to also be
aggressive in free agency; the franchise wants to win now and capitalize on
Trae Young’s emergence.

The Hawks join a growing number of teams that reportedly would entertain
trading down. Such rumors often surface in the weeks leading up to the event
so the speculation could just be draft posturing by front offices in an
attempt to create misinformation.

In any case, the Hawks certainly have a key trade asset to utilize in the
sixth overall pick so it will be worth monitoring to see if general manager
Travis Schlenk & Co. can pull off a deal on Nov. 18.
