Robert Pires has reportedly been offered a new and ‘cheap’ contract by
Villarreal president Fernando Roig.

Arsenal and France legend Pires is due to be out of contract at the end of the
season, but the midfielder has previously confirmed that he hopes he will
extend his stay in Spain by at least another year.

Roig has responded by offering the veteran a new deal, but he has not been
able to match the attacker’s demands because of the current economic climate.

Another former Arsenal player, Pascal Cygan, is expected to move on from the

securing his signing.
