No. 2: Sign Stephen Drew to a one-year deal.
No. 3: Trade Ellsbury for a middle-to-top-of-the-rotation starter who will be
a free agent next year.
No. 4: Sign a free agent outfielder for big money, short term.

If the Sox do trade Ellsbury, they will need a replacement and, if Angel
Pagan is not re-signed by the Giants, the Sox would be wise to go hard after
the underrated Pagan. There are other solutions besides Cody Ross. Like Melky
Cabrera. And how could the Red Sox pass up offering Hamilton a massive,
record-breaking one-year deal in case his options dry up? Nick Swisher is
looking for a multiyear deal, which the Sox should run away from. But to get
Swisher on a short-term deal would be well worth exploring.
