的美國體育記者彷彿在汪洋中找到一條扶木，竟然開始寫中職新聞，不僅如此，就連台灣
足甲也在報....。

TAIPEI — The baseball and soccer seasons got underway behind closed doors in
Taiwan at the weekend, providing rare live action for fans at home at a time
when the COVID-19 pandemic has shut down most professional sport around the
globe.

臺北——棒球和足球賽季於週末在臺灣閉門進行，爲國內的球迷提供了罕見的現場表演，
而此時正值COVID-19爆發的致命流感使全球大多數職業體育運動陷入癱瘓。

Taiwan has been comparatively successful in containing the spread of the
virus, reporting to date 388 cases and six deaths in a population of around
24 million.

臺灣在控制病毒傳播方面比較成功，迄今爲止報告了388例病例和6例死亡，臺灣人口約
2400萬。

Globally, more than 110,000 people have died from the virus.

全球已有11萬多人死於這種病毒。

The Chinese Professional Baseball League's much delayed start was pushed back
by a further 24 hours after rain swept across the island, forcing the
postponement of the traditional season-opener on Saturday.

中華職業棒球聯賽(Chinese Professional Baseball League)推遲已久的開賽時間又被推
遲了24小時，原因是臺灣遭遇暴雨襲擊，迫使原定於週六舉行的傳統賽季首場比賽被迫推
遲。

It therefore fell to Cuban lefthander Ariel Miranda, formerly of the Seattle
Mariners, to throw the first pitch of the season for the Chinatrust Brothers
against the Uni-President Lions at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium
on Sunday.

因此，週日在臺中洲際棒球場(Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium)，爲中信
金控兄弟(Chinatrust Brothers)和統一獅隊(Uni-President Lions)投出本賽季首戰
的球權落在了曾效力於西雅圖水手隊(Seattle Mariners)的古巴左投手阿里爾·米蘭
達(Ariel Miranda)身上。

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen posted a picture on her Facebook page on Sunday
of her watching the baseball match at home, accompanied by one of her cats,
and calling on everyone else to join her and watch from home.

週日，臺灣總統蔡英文在她的臉書主頁上發佈了一張她在家看棒球比賽的照片，旁邊是她
的一隻貓，並呼籲所有人都加入她的行列，在家觀看比賽。

"What's more important is once the epidemic is over, we'll see each other at
the baseball pitch!" she wrote.

No fans were allowed in the 20,000-seater stadium to watch the Lions win 4-1,
with health concerns limiting attendees to a total of 200 players, coaches,
umpires, cheerleaders and journalists, local media reported.

Rakuten Monkeys had placed cardboard cut-outs of fans replete with face masks
in the stands for the washed-out game on Saturday, while anyone entering the
baseball stadiums had their temperatures checked.

The fourth season of the Taiwan Football Premier League also got underway on
Sunday with Tapei-based champions Tatung City FC 3-2 losing to their rivals
from the southern city of Kaohsiung, Taipower, on the opening day.

台灣企業甲級足球聯賽第四個賽季也於週日開始，在開幕當天，以台北爲主場的冠軍大同
城市隊以3-2輸給了來自南部城市高雄的對手，台電隊(Taipower)。

Tatung have won the championship in all three seasons of the Taiwan Football
Premier League, which runs from April to October, with Taipower runners-up
each year.

大同在台灣企業甲級足球聯賽(Taiwan Football Premier League)的三個賽季中都獲得
了冠軍，其中臺灣電力(Taipower)是每年的亞軍。台灣企業甲級足球聯賽從4月持續到
10月。
