Arsene Wenger was left speechless and mystified after watching Arsenal
contrive to throw away a 2-0 lead at home to Tottenham which cost them the
chance to go top of the Barclays Premier League.

在看到阿森納在主場丟掉兩球領先優勢，接著被熱刺反超，
白白浪費登頂英超榜首機會後，教授感到無言以對且困惑不已。

Samir Nasri and Marouane Chamakh had put the Gunners in complete control as
they looked set to leapfrog Chelsea.

However, Gareth Bale pulled a goal back on 50 minutes, before an inexplicable
handball from captain Cesc Fabregas from a free-kick gave away a penalty,
which Rafael van der Vaart converted before Younes Kaboul headed in a
dramatic late winner.

"We could not maintain the focus nor the urgency for 90 minutes because some
players dropped. I believe that overall we delivered a performance expected
in a game like that quality-wise. However, it was a mixture of fatigue in the
second half, and also a lack of cautiousness."

Asked if his team had been complacent after going two goals ahead by
half-time, Wenger said: 「It』s difficult to say. Did we drop physically or
concentration wise? It』s difficult to accept when you are 2-0 up, concede a
free-kick and are caught on the counter-attack.

記者問到教授的球隊是否在上半場兩球領先後，變得驕矜自滿了？

「We had plenty of chances to score a third goal and kill this game off but,
overall, Spurs remained dangerous on the counter-attack. I felt that some of
our players who played Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday could not maintain the pace
in their game and dropped physically. [Marouane] Chamakh was clean through
but had no legs in the second half after playing 80 minutes mid-week."

Wenger also admitted his team had wasted a great opportunity to go top of the
table.

What is worrying for me is we had an opportunity to go top of the league and,
when we had to deliver, we can』t.

「Three home defeats is three too many. Today we put ourselves in the right
position and we failed. We have to accept that. That is mental more than
football.

　我們必須接受這個事實，這是精神層面上而並非足球競技上的打擊。」

「If Tottenham had dominated and created 10 chances, it would be less
difficult to swallow. Today we were always in position where we could win the
game but didn』t win it. There is a mixture of fatigue and lack of
cautiousness.」

「如果熱刺佔據了場上優勢並且創造了10次得分機會，就不會那麼難以接受。
　今天我們一直處在足以贏下比賽的主導位置，但是卻輸了球。
　這裡既有疲勞也有大意的因素。」
