日前，在接受媒體的採訪時，阿森納前鋒吉魯稱，儘管在沃爾科特改打中鋒之後，他目前已經失去了主力位置，但他不會因此而灰心喪氣，他會努力用出色的表現來贏回主力位置。
吉魯表示：“對我來說，失去主力是一件新鮮事。無論在圖爾、蒙彼利埃還是阿森納，我之前一直都是球隊的主力前鋒，我從來都沒有遇到過像現在這樣的困境，我一直都是球隊的主力。”
“我需要從積極的方面來看待這件事，面對這樣的困境，我必須得堅強起來。我不能逃避現實。目前，我正在和沃爾科特競爭主力前鋒的位置，沃爾科特現在的狀態很好，所以，球隊沒必要更換主力前鋒的人選。”
“在過去的幾個賽季裡，我一直都是阿森納的主力前鋒，我想，沃爾科特當時的感受肯定也和我現在一樣。不過，我認為主教練現在仍然還很信任我。”
“在過去的幾場比賽中，我都是球隊的替補球員，雖然我的出場時間變少了，但我並不擔心自己的未來。雖然我的出場時間並不足夠，但我不能喪失對自己的信心。”
