franchise L’Equipe claiming Wenger is close to agreeing terms with Klaas-Jan
Huntelaar ahead of the January transfer window.

The Dutchman, who currently plies his trade with FC Schalke, has been hotly
tipped to join the Gunners as his current deal expires in 2013, and the
German outfit have come to terms with selling their star man otherwise they
risk loosing him for free in the summer.

The prolific forward who netted twice against Arsenal in the Champions League
this season has also been linked with the likes of Inter Milan and Liverpool,
however it seems that the Gunners are front runners for his signature with
Wenger desperately needing a goal scorer to add to the ranks in the wake of
Van Persie’s departure.

The 29-year-old may well move to North London in a deal worth a reported 5

It is important to remember however that when Arsenal have funds they are not
just for transfer fees but salaries also. For example if Wenger managed to
get Huntelaar for ￡4m pounds, and then paid him 85k a week on a three year
deal, that’s ￡13.3m in wages bringing the acquisition of Huntelaar to ￡
17.3m. Which is just another reason why there won’t be mass signings in
January – maybe just two astute buys plus the loan of Henry.

The Dutchman would be a terrific buy, extremely cheap and he is the type of
player we need up front – someone that can turning nothing into a goal
scoring opportunity, an agile forward that can run at defences and
importantly experience.
