Kevin Love injury shouldn't have Cavaliers fans bemoaning the Bulls

Love probably was going to struggle against the Bulls’ frontcourt.
Chicago doesn’t let teams spread the floor very easily. The Bulls allow the
third-fewest 3-pointers and third-lowest 3-point percentage in the NBA and
have flexible defenders at every position. Love shot 28.6 percent from the
field and 29.4 percent on 3s in three games against the Bulls this season,
averaging 14.3 points and 10.7 rebounds a game

And the Bulls’ frontcourt has so many weapons that they make for a very
complex defensive situation. While Pau Gasol might be a little big for
Tristan Thompson, Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic are way too quick for Love,
around the basket or, in Mirotic’s case, on the perimeter. And center
Timofey Mozgov has done a good job in post defense this season.


Love面對公牛前場可能會有些辛苦.

And Thompson is a really, really good substitute.

His progress this season may not be easy to see because his minutes are down
and his offensive role is diminished. But he’s athletic and has a very
complete understanding of his role next to LeBron James.

The bigger issue will be who joins Thompson in big minutes.

James can play power forward (along with every other position on the court,
if needed), opening up the possibility of the Cavs going to small-ball for
late-game stretches.

That was one of three times in the past six years that James’ teams have
eliminated the Bulls in a five-game series. Now they don’t even have Luol
Deng, the versatile forward who was one of the few players physically able to
kind of guard James.

Jimmy Butler’s offensive explosion from Round 1 was a great sign for the
Bulls about his future, but if he’s occupied with James all series, they can
’t expect a similar output.
