馬刺隊前鋒Davis West在接受採訪時揭露了自己選擇穿30號球衣的背後原因。
“50減21，”大衛西說道。
儘管這道減法算術題的答案應該是29，
但50和21這個兩個數字顯然對於Davis West來說有著特殊的意義。
“Tim（TD，21號）和David Robinson（50號）是我最愛的兩個球員。
”大衛西說道，“30是20和50之間的中間數。”
擁有一串特別的數字對於一些球員來說象徵意義重大，如果有必要，
他們甚至願意付出昂貴的代價。
1995年，當喬丹復出之後，他穿了17場比賽的45號球衣，但在季後賽次輪，
他將號碼換回了標誌性的23號。NBA禁止球員在賽季期間更換號碼，
但喬丹拒絕執行這一規則。
最終，聯盟也僅是對公牛隊實施了10萬美元的罰款了事。
“有時候，我們就是想擁有更換號碼的權利，”大衛西說道，
“尋找到自己感覺舒適的號碼，我就是這樣的。”
本賽季至今，大衛西場均出戰17.5分鐘，能夠得到7分4籃板1.8助攻。
