JAKARTA (Indonesia) – Indonesia hasn't participated in the FIBA Asia Cup
since 2011, but they are close to making their way back to the biggest stage
in the continent. The FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers Draw revealed the teams
that they will have to go through to in order to make their return.

印尼自2011年以來不曾參加亞洲盃(及前身亞錦賽)，希望能經由2021亞洲盃資格賽完成
重返亞洲盃的目標。

Recently named head coach, Wahya Hidayat Jati, realizes that the path to
qualification won’t be easy, especially being drawn against two of the best
teams in the region.

剛發布的新任國家隊總教練 Wahya Hidayat Jati 表示這任務是艱難的，要對抗2支亞洲
最好的球隊之一。

“We are in the same group with Philippines and Korea,” Coach Wahyu says. “
As we know they have strong tradition in basketball. They almost always
participate in every basketball event in Asia. Since basketball has already
become a sports industry in those country, Philippines and Korea have a
higher level of competition compared to Indonesia. So I’d say that Korea and
the Philippines are the strongest teams in our group.”

我們和菲律賓及南韓兩隻幾乎參與所有亞洲賽事的傳統強隊在同組，籃球在這兩個國家已
經形成一個產業，菲律賓和南韓比印尼有更高的競技水平。這是我們的分組中兩隻最強的
隊伍。

It obviously won’t be the first time Indonesia has faced the Philippines;
the two nations have had played several times in the past in several
tournaments. The Philippines are a step ahead – as evident from being the
number one seed in the Group – but Coach Wahyu has no plans to roll over and
give up.

過去和菲律賓有多次交手經驗，卻從未贏過，但Wahyu教練沒有打算放棄。

“My expectations facing the Philippines,” shares Wahyu. “We will do our
best since we had just rebuilt the team. I know the Philippines are a strong
team but we will fight every possession on offense and defense to respect the
game and the fans. So every chance we have, we are going to use it to win the
game.”

期待面對菲律賓能打出最好的表現，每次攻守都盡力以尊重比賽與球迷，希望能把握每次
能贏下比賽的機會。

While the Philippines and Korea will be the toughest opponents in the
Qualifiers for Indonesia, they cannot overlook their other Southeast Asian
rivals: Thailand. After many recent intense battles, the two teams will be
facing each other once again with higher stakes on the line.

雖然菲律賓和南韓是資格賽中最強勁的對手，仍然可以把目標放在同為東南亞的泰國隊。
最近幾次交手兩隊都打得非常接近。

“Talking about Thailand, we have met them so many times in Southeast Asian
events. In my opinion, we are at the same level with them and also have a
50-50 chance in this game,” Wahyu says.

在東南亞的賽事裡面對泰國隊的次數很多，我們是同等級的隊伍，各有50%的機會能贏下
比賽。

At this point, future opponents aren’t Indonesia’s biggest concerns. As
Wahyu mentioned, they are team that are in the process of a rebuild. Seasoned
stars like Mario Wuysang and Christian Sitepu, among others, have already
announced their retirement from international play. It’ll be up to the new
wave to show up and make the nation proud.

但我們最關心的不是接下來的對手，而是接下來球隊的重建。球星Mario Wuysang和
Christian Sitepu都宣布從國家隊退休，我們將重新組建新世代的國家隊。

“We have to show to the fans that we respect them, so we have to maximize
our strengths and play with big heart, discipline, and teamwork as our team
has obstacles in size and experience at higher levels of competition.”

等級的賽事。
