With football back in full swing for the top two divisions in England and
some European countries following the restart, our round-up of the recent
action involving our loan players continues…

Starting in the Championship, Izzy Brown (pcitured above) played a big
part in what could turn out to be an important weekend in the relegation
battle.


Brown came off the bench to set up a potentially crucial goal for Luton
Town. His cross allowed James Collins to head in against a Swansea City
side featuring Conor Gallagher, with Marc Guehi among the substitutes for
the Welsh side, giving the Hatters a 1-0 win.

That moved Luton off the bottom of the table and closed the gap to
Huddersfield Town to three points after their 3-1 loss at Nottingham
Forest, with Trevoh Chalobah coming off the bench for the last
half-an-hour of that match for the 10-man Terriers.


Jake Clarke-Salter, who has extended his loan until the end of the current
season, helped Birmingham City earn a point against the other side
involved in that three-way battle to avoid the drop, Hull City. In the
Championship's game of the weekend, the Blues took the lead but then
needed to come from behind twice before sharing the spoils with the Tigers
in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Elsewhere in England's second tier, Reading were beaten 2-1 by Derby
County in a fiery encounter, with Matt Miazga and Derby's Tom Lawrence
both being shown red cards following angry confrontations at the final
whistle.


Danny Drinkwater did not get off the bench in Aston Villa's Premier League
defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, but has extended his stay
at Villa Park until the end of the 2019/20 campaign. Miazga's loan at
Reading has also been extended to the end of the season.


In a double-game week for Serie A, Victor Moses had a frustrating
Wednesday as he left the pitch with Inter leading Sassuolo 2-1, only to
see his side go down to 10 men and a flurry of late goals result in a 3-3
draw.

He played a big part in helping the Nerazzurri bounce back with a win,
though, coming off the bench at Parma on Sunday to provide the cross for
Alessandro Bastoni's 87th-minute winner, completing a dramatic late
comeback. That leaves Inter comfortably positioned in third-place, four
points ahead of Atalanta, who won 3-2 at Udinese as Mario Pasalic, who
will join the Bergamo club permanently for next season, returned from
suspension.

There were mixed fortunes for Davide Zappacosta in Italy too. On Wednesday
he came off the bench for Roma with the Giallorossi 1-0 down to Sampdoria,
helping them turn the game around to win 2-1. However, he could not
prevent them suffering a 2-0 defeat at Milan when he played from the start
on Sunday. Zappacosta is another to have his loan deal extended to the end
of the season, while Ethan Ampadu and Kenedy have completed their loans at
RB Leipzig and Getafe, respectively, and will now return to Chelsea.

In Portugal, Lucas Piazon and Rio Ave came from behind to win 2-1 at
Vitoria Setubal, leaving them just one point behind the Europa League
qualification places with six games left to play.
