In our round-up of the action involving Chelsea players on loan over the
last week, Fikayo Tomori and Matt Miazga give their teams' chances of
Champions League qualification a massive boost and Marco van Ginkel is
named in the starting line-up for the first time after his serious injury.

Fikayo Tomori's first goal for AC Milan contributed to a huge win in the
race for Champions League qualification in Italy. The Rossoneri went into
their game at Juventus in joint-second place in the Serie A table,
alongside their opponents and Atalanta, but after Tomori had made an
important block on Adrien Rabiot at 0-0, Milan pulled away, with Tomori
heading in a Hakan Calhanoglu free-kick to complete the scoring in a
memorable 3-0 victory.

As well as helping Milan secure a three-point safety net in the top four
with three games left, Tomori's goal was also significant as it edged his
team ahead of Juventus on their head-to-head record, meaning Milan will
finish ahead if they end on the same points.

Davide Zappacosta also found the net in the latest round of Serie A
fixtures as he attempted to singlehandedly earn Genoa a point against
Sassuolo. With the Grifone two down, the right-back pulled a goal back
with a powerful shot into the top corner from the edge of the box after 85
minutes and then skimmed the post with another late effort.

However, they couldn't find an equaliser, with the 2-1 defeat meaning they
must wait to secure mathematical safety from relegation, although there is
a five-point margin and four teams between them and the relegation zone
with three games left.

Matt Miazga kept Anderlecht in contention in the Belgian title play-offs
with a dramatic late goal against Royal Antwerp. After his side went
behind from an 84th-minute penalty, they were in danger of being cut loose
at the bottom of the table, but the centre-back was thrown forward for the
closing stages and got his head on a cross in the sixth minute of injury
time to nod in an equaliser. The 2-2 draw keeps them within three points
of a Champions League place.

Marco van Ginkel continued his return from serious injury by making his
first start for three years with PSV Eindhoven. The midfielder was last
named in the line-up in May 2018, also on loan at PSV, but was given a
chance to do so again in shocking circumstances when team-mate Eran Zahavi
left the Dutch side's squad to face Willem II after his family were the
victims of a violent robbery.


Van Ginkel managed 87 minutes on his return to the starting line-up,
helping PSV to a 2-0 win which keeps them in the second Erediviside
Champions League spot with a narrow one-point advantage over AZ Alkmaar.

That result also boosted Juan Castillo and ADO Den Haag's chances of
avoiding relegation. Castillo came on as a late substitute as ADO Den Haag
secured a vital 1-0 win away at PEC Zwolle. That means the gap between
them and a possible escape from relegation has been shortened to just two
points with two games remaining in the last week of the Dutch season, and
they are three behind Willem II ahead of facing them on Wednesday.


Armando Broja was in the Vitesse Arnhem side which lost 3-0 at Sparta
Rotterdam, but they still have a five-point advantage over Feyenoord in
the fight for automatic European qualification.


Ross Barkley couldn't prevent 10-man Aston Villa losing 3-1 at home to
Manchester United in the Premier League, despite taking a first-half lead
through former Blues forward Bertrand Traore.


A tough week for Conor Gallagher at West Bromwich Albion saw the Baggies'
relegation from the Premier League confirmed. The midfielder featured
throughout the 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers last week which left
them hanging by thread, before their fate was confirmed in a 3-1 loss at
Arsenal on Sunday.

Marc Guehi and Swansea City ended their regular season with a 2-0 defeat
away at promoted Watford. There was little riding on the game, though,
with the Swans already assured of a place in Championship play-offs, and
they will now face Barnsley in the first leg of their semi-final at home
on 17 May.


Jamal Blackman was unable to prevent Rotherham United suffering relegation
to League One, despite giving them a fighting chance by keeping a clean
sheet in the midweek 0-0 draw at Luton Town. With Derby County then
failing to beat Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, a win in Rotherham's last
game would have been enough for another season in the Championship, after
taking an early lead over Cardiff City, but an 88th minute equaliser
condemned them to the drop.


Ian Maatsen helped Charlton Athletic finish the League One season with
back-to-back wins, beating Lincoln City 3-1 in midweek before ending with
a 1-0 victory over champions Hull City, but it wasn't quite enough to
secure a play-off spot, missing out to Oxford United on goal difference.

Luke McCormick ended his season with already-relegated Bristol Rovers with
a 1-0 defeat away at Blackpool.


Jon Russell started Accrington Stanley's 1-0 win away at Portsmouth, which
denied their opponents a place in the League One play-offs.


Jamie Cumming ended the League Two campaign in fitting style by securing
his 18th clean sheet of the season in Stevenage Borough's 1-0 win over
Scunthorpe United, although it was a fairly quiet day for the goalkeeper,
with just one shot on target to deal with.


Two wins in a week for Baba Rahman and PAOK, 2-1 at AEK Athens and 2-0
over Aris Salonika, left them almost guaranteed second place in the Greek
Super League, sitting five points clear of third-placed Aris but 20 behind
champions Olympiacos with two games remaining.


Lewis Baker helped Trabzonspor beat Antalyaspor 2-1 in Turkey, a result
which guarantees they will finish fourth and qualify for the Europa
Conference League. Danny Drinkwater was also on the winning side in
Turkey, as Kasimpasa defeated Erzurumspor in a relegation head-to-head,
with both teams having a man sent off before the visitors triumphed 1-0.
That leaves them five points clear of the drop with two games to play.


Trevoh Chalobah and Lorient suffered a 4-1 defeat at Champions
League-chasing Lyon, leaving them one-point clear of the bottom three in a
tight Ligue 1 relegation battle.

Danilo Pantic and Cukaricki were beaten 2-0 at home by Partizan Belgrade
in Serbia, with both teams already being guaranteed a top-four finish and
European qualification.
