Under-18s Report: Fulham 4 Chelsea 4
23 Oct 2021
Our Under-18s group were involved in a thrilling contest away from home at
Motspur Park, as a very competitive game ended with both sides sharing the
spoils. It was a draw which saw two goals each from Edwin Andersson and
Jude Soonsup-Bell as the game ended 4-4.

Our boys were involved in an exciting contest against the team that
currently sit top of the Under-18s Premier League in Fulham. It promised
to be an exciting game against our west London rivals and the scoreline
proves that it was. An ealy goal from Andersson set the tone in this one
as he grabbed himself a brace on the day.
With the game getting away from our young Blues, Soonsup-Bell notched the
second of his brace five minutes before the conclusion of the game to
level the scoring at 4-4, and that was how it would end.

Both sides came into this affair off the back of contrasting form. Fulham
had scored seven goals in their last two games and kept clean sheets in
both, while our boys were attempting to halt their two-game losing streak;
both of which they lost by one-goal margins.
The intent from Ed Brand's boys was evident and we opened the scoring
through Andersson who was on hand to finish expertly, after the team won
the ball back through good pressure.

Edwin Andersson with a nice finish against Fulham
On the ball our young Blues struggled to complete their passes and
inevitably ended up conceding through Jaylan Wildbore who was able to
finish after we failed to clear our lines from a set-piece. Fulham then
took the lead through Harvey Araujo.
Despite this setback, the boys responded positively and halfway through
the first half we managed to equalise through Soonsup-Bell. His header was
diverted well into the net after a wonderful cross from Lewis Hall. Our
boys were rewarded again for their fine effort and they made the scoreline
3-2 as Andersson got his second of the game after a fine team move. On the
balance of things we deserved to go into half-time 3-2 up.
Following a quiet period in the game some sloppy defending allowed Luke
Harris to equalise for Fulham as he levelled the scoring. This opened the
game up.
It was our boys who had the chance to go ahead once more as we managed to
win a penalty. Lewis Hall stepped up to take it and despite having a 100
per cent record from the spot this season he missed this one, with Louis
Flower failing to convert from the rebound.
Immediately after that penalty miss, Fulham won themselves a penalty at
the other end as Badley-Morgan was adjuged by the referee to have fouled
his opponent. Harris made no mistake from the spot and scored his second
of the game.
With five minutes remaining, Soonsup-Bell finished well from a
Badley-Morgan cross which levelled the scoring once again to make it 4-4.
This is a game that will be remmebered for braces; a brace of goals from
Soonsup-Bell and Andersson for Chelsea and a brace for Harris of Fulham.
As well as that there were a brace of penalties awarded in the game.

Ed Brand, head coach of the under-18s said after the game: 'I was
disappointed that we did not get the win, baring in mind this team that
played together did not train on Friday. It was a great advert for youth
football and in the grand scheme of things our late goal to give us the
draw was well deserved.'
This draw keeps us in fifth place in the U18 Premier League on goal
difference and leaves us one point behind our London rivals Arsenal and
Crystal Palace in fourth and third respectively.
