NBA star Thon Maker has taken full responsibility for his actions in the
all-in brawl during Australia's World Cup qualifier in the Philippines, but
says he was only trying to protect his teammates.

NBA球員Thon Maker對於昨天世界盃預賽和菲律賓在場上發生鬥毆之事，
他表示願意負起全責，但他說他這麼做是為了試著保護隊友。


The Milwaukee Bucks centre, who was playing only his second match for the
Boomers, was ejected from the match after entering the fray with a series of
fly-kicks during the third-quarter fight.

這位來自公鹿的中鋒才打了世界盃第二場，就因為一記飛踢而在第三節被迫驅逐離場。


Numerous Philippines officials and even fans joined in, with Maker hopeful
the carnage would lead to a renewed focus on player security.

場邊許多菲律賓球員及粉絲也加入了這場鬥毆，
Maker希望藉由此事讓大家重新關注球員在比賽中的人身安全。


"I am deeply disappointed in the actions displayed during yesterday's game
against the Philippines," Maker said in a statement posted on Twitter.

Maker今日在Twitter上發文：

「昨天與菲律賓的比賽中發生這樣的事情，我感到非常遺憾。」


"Being from a war-torn country, basketball for me has always been a means to
bring people together.

「我來自一個飽受戰亂之苦的國家，對我來說，籃球一直是讓人們團結起來的方法。」


"I feel a great responsibility as an NBA player to carry myself in a way that
promotes peace and unity.

"My hope is that this experience provides a springboard for discussion
regarding the security surrounding these games.

「我希望這次的經歷能成為一個跳板，讓人們能多多探討比賽中的安全問題。」


"I take responsibility for my actions knowing that they were a result of MY
DESIRE to protect my teammates and myself.

「我願意為我的行為負責，因為我知道我當下只是想著出於保護隊友和自己。」


"It is a tremendous honour to represent Australia, the Milwaukee Bucks and
the NBA and my goal is to reflect that in my conduct and play."

Maker, 21, did not appear to inflict any actual damage with his fly kicks and
seemed more interested in keeping Filipino players away from his fellow
Boomers.

Maker昨天的飛踢似乎沒有造成實質傷害，
