The catching market continues to move quickly this offseason, with Stephen
Vogt the latest free-agent backstop to come off the board.

The veteran has agreed to a one-year contract with the D-backs, a source told
MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert on Tuesday. The club has not confirmed the deal,
which was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan and will include a vesting
option for 2021. Vogt will make about $3 million this coming season,
according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

With free agents Yasmani Grandal (White Sox) and Travis d’Arnaud (Braves)
already having found new homes, Vogt was one of the top options remaining.
Now he goes to Arizona, where he can offer a left-handed-hitting complement
to young Carson Kelly.

Vogt, who turned 35 on Nov. 1, had a resurgent 2019 with the Giants after
missing all of the previous season with a right shoulder injury. He hit
.263/.314/.490 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs in 99 games and fared
particularly well against right-handed pitching (.835 OPS).

A two-time All-Star with the A’s in 2015-16, Vogt owns a career line of
.253/.310/.426 in seven seasons with Oakland, Tampa Bay, Milwaukee and San
Francisco.
