-- There are numerous factors to weigh, Vince Carter insisted, when deciding
his future and whether he will stay with the Nets. They will include dollars,
contract length, the status of Jason Kidd and the whereabouts of Richard
Jefferson.

明斯卡特兒必須作出決定，是該結束與新澤西網子隊的合同，
投入自由球員市場，或是留在網子留，拿16M以上的薪水
明斯卡特兒強調，要他決定留下籃網，有很多的因素必需作考量，

"I've been able to cope with it. I don't think that's an issue," said Carter,
erasing one of the factors on the "Vince is going" side of the scoreboard for
this free-agent summer. "All my life, I've been away from my family so that's
not a big deal. It's a little different when you have a child, but at the
same time, we've made it work."

A quick recap for those living in seclusion recently: Carter can opt out of
the final year of his contract ($16.3 million) to test free agency, as most
expect him to do. Two teams with some cap space that could be landing spots
are Orlando (close to his home) and Charlotte (close to his daughter). So
Carter saying proximity to family is not a major issue becomes significant.

At the Nets' break-up gathering yesterday, Carter insisted he has not thought
it through, that "everything" will weigh into his decision and that he "will
approach this like I was choosing a college."

So the Nets may need to offer illegal cash payments and a car.

Seriously, there could be an extension before July 1, but all are prepared
for Carter to opt out and let the market set his worth. Carter likely dreams
of something similar to Paul Pierce's extension from the Celtics last summer:
three years at $59.4 million. A pact that rich, however, is doubtful.
