OFFICIALS of the PBA and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) are set to
sit down to assess Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the Fiba World Cup and chart
the next steps for the national team program.

PBA及菲律賓籃協(SBP)的官員將坐下來評估Gilas菲律賓在FIBA世界盃的表現，並為國家隊
計畫制定下一部步。


SBP chairman emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan has already sent a communique to
federation president Al Panlilio for an immediate meeting with the PBA board
led by TnT Katropa governor Ricky Vargas and Commissioner Willie Marcial.

菲律賓籃協榮譽主席Manny V. Pangilinan為了立即與由TnT Katropa主席Ricky Vargas及
Willie Marcial主委領導的PBA委員會召開會議，已經向協會主席Al Panlilio發了一段簡
報。


The PBA commissioner told SPIN.ph on Monday he wants the meeting to be
scheduled as soon as possible especially in the aftermath of the Philippine
men’s team finishing dead last among 32 teams in the global showpiece.

PBA主委週一告訴SPIN.ph他希望會議能越快訂定時間越好，尤其是菲律賓男籃在世界賽事
中拿到了32隊中墊底的結果。

Marcial said he’s proposing that the meeting be held at the end of the month
when the entire league board convenes for its monthly conference.

Marcial說他希望能在月底舉行會面，屆時整個聯盟將召開月度會議。


Gilas Pilipinas’ World Cup ended with five losses by an average margin of
29.4 points.

Gilas菲律賓在世界盃以平均29.4的輸分五連敗作收。


“We have to hear it from the SBP, anong programa nila, anong course of
action to take? Basta ang programa sa kanila yun. Ang sa amin naman ay yung
players and siyempre, yung schedule para mai-adjust din namin yung kalendaryo
ng liga,” said Marcial, who was with the PBA board in Foshan, China during
the group phase of the world meet.

"我們必須聽取SBP的意見，他們的計畫是什麼，有任何措施要行動嗎？只要有計畫，我
們有球員，當然還有賽程，我們可以調整聯盟的行程，"Marcila說，他在世界盃小組賽
期間和PBA委員會一起待在中國佛山。


By that, Marcial meant it’s the SBP which is fully in-charge of the players
it needed and the men who will handle the team.

也就是說，Marcial意指是SBP將完全負責所需的球員以及將掌控球隊的人員。


He added its’ still the federation’s call about revamping the composition
of the team, including the coaching staff under veteran mentor Yeng Guiao.

他補充這仍是協會關於隊伍重組的呼籲，包含資深教練Yeng Guiao說的。


“Wala kaming say diyan pagdating sa programa ng SBP. Sa kanila yun,” he
said.

"在談到SBP計畫我們沒有什麼可說得，那就是他們，"他說。

And instead of pointing fingers on what transpired in China, Marcial said it
would be better to discuss what went wrong and from there adopt the best
possible plan.

比起指責發生在中國的狀況，Marcial說討論哪裡出了錯並從中調整更好的計畫是較好的。


“Walang sisihan dito,” said the commissioner. “I-identify natin ano yung
naging problema at pag-usapan kung ano ang nararapat na gawin.”

"不應該有責罵，"主委說。"讓我們確定問題是什麼，並談談我們該怎麼做。"


Without making an excuse, Marcial noted though how competition in the world
level has drastically changed just five years after the Philippine made it
back to the tournament after more than three decades of absence.

沒有藉口，Marcial注意到菲律賓相隔三十多年重返世界盃後，只過了五年世界級別的比
賽就有了重大的變化。


Marcial said that even mighty China, which he thought was the most prepared
team among Asian countries, failed to advance past the group stage. Worse, it
even failed to secure an outright berth to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics despite
having the advantage as tournament host.

Marcial說即使是強大的中國，他認為在亞洲國家中準備最充足的，也無法從小組賽晉級。
更糟的是，身為主辦國的優勢，還是在晉級2020東京奧運的競爭中失利。


“Nag-NBA camp pa yang China and trained kung saan-saan, pero hindi rin
nag-qualify,” he said. “Mabigat talaga yung competition, pero again wala
tayong excuses.”

"中國去了NBA夏季聯賽，並到處移訓，但仍沒取得資格，"他說。"比賽非常難打，但我們
沒有藉口。"


The coming 30th Southeast Asian Games which the country is hosting from
November 30 to Dec. 11 and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament – if ever the
Philippines would be given a wild card slot – are the two immediate
tournaments which would occupy the SBP in the coming months.

11月30日到12月11日菲律賓主辦的第30屆東南亞運動會和奧運資格賽即將到來─假如
菲律賓有取得外卡席位的話─這兩項立即的賽事將佔據SBP接下來的幾個月。
