Justine delivered another victory at Roland Garros by defeating ball pounding
Anna-Lena Groenefeld 7-5 6-2. The Belgian champion seized the day by holding
stronger, unflinching, and wiser than Groenefeld's raw power bombardment.
Justine will next face off with Kim Clijsters in the semi-final on Thursday.


Justine played first time grand slam quarterfinalist rising tennis talent, 20
year old Anna-lena Groenefeld. The German won Junior Roland Garros in 2003,
and is a good mover on clay. Groenefeld led the match quickly from the
starting gates with her raw hit, and miss tennis. There wasn't much for
Justine to work with as Groenefeld's style of play looked closer to grass
court tennis, nonetheless she broke the match open at 4-3. But with fearless
determination she held stronger despite the constant barrage from the
German's huge serves and out of nowhere winners. The match was levelled at
5-5, but Justine's superior strategic shot making, foresight and less erratic
serves gave the Belgian the set. It was 7-5 in 51 minutes.

Groenefeld's gaps in technique, insight, and court craft finally were exposed
in the second set as Justine took the lead 3-0. Double faults from overly
ambitious monster first serves did the German no favours, despite showing
fine sportsmenship during a game, and conceding the world's greatest backhand
an ace point that may have been disputed with the chair umpire. Justine's
cool as ice maturity eased her out of peril, as Groenefeld ran out of options
that worked. The Roland Garros champion served it out at 6-2 to win the
second set.
