Rodman:聯盟變太快，球員奪不了冠就會被 - NBA

先聲明幾點，

1. 我並不認為當年 Rodman 搞怪求延長合約的做法是對的。

2. Rodman 在季後賽不幫 Robinson 防守 Olajuwon，這一點不服從
教練與 Popovich 所下的防守方針也是錯的。

但是不能把馬刺的輸球單純怪在這一點上，因為 Rodman 真的
去包夾了，會不會造成火箭隊那群瘋狂射手更加猖狂呢？

3. 1994-95 球季 Rodman 被球團整的很慘，出賽 49 場中只有 26 場先發，
這對當時的連三屆籃板王與曾經的兩屆 DPOY 來說根本是羞辱吧！

當然很多人會覺得 Rodman 罪有應得，因為不服從球團。

不過當時的 GM 與教練，應該也要認知到，這樣去整一個桀傲不馴的 Rodman，
還有辦法希望他在季後賽乖乖聽話嗎？XD

4. Popovich 是軍人出身，Robinson 也是軍人出身，希望 Rodman 服從球隊是
在正常不過的事。

Rodman 在 1993-94 球季不就乖乖聽話、認真出賽全力輔佐 Robinson 嗎？
當時有聽過他公開批評過 Robinson 嗎？


5. Popovich 當時雖然是球隊 GM，但是跨過 Bob Hill 過度插手球隊內部事務
是不是妥當也很難說。

當時 Popovich 在季後賽時還跑進休息室大吼 Rodman，叫他去防守 Olajuwon。
Popovich 的脾氣大家都知道，二十年前的 Popovich 肯定是更為火爆的。


6. 為什麼 Robinson 會被酸心理素質呢？

查一查 Robinson 在季賽對決 Olajuwon 的數據就知道 (1995 以前)，
兩人成績並不是一面倒的，球隊勝負甚至是 Robinson 佔優。

Robinson 還拿過得分王與單場 71 分，得分能力並不輸 Olajuwon。

兩人都拿過 DPOY，也是公認防守一流。

可是一到季後賽怎麼全都變了樣呢？

除了心理素質以外，真的很難去解釋為什麼 Robinson 無法
跟 Olajuwon 在季後賽互爆。


媒體與球迷的觀點是：

Robinson 你在季賽成績不輸 Olajuwon，團隊勝利還佔優勢。

怎麼一到季後賽，Robinson 與馬刺團隊防守被 Olajuwon 打爆。

而 Robinson 卻無法打爆 Olajuwon 與火箭團隊防守。

這真的是個謎，所以只能用心理素質來解釋了。

San Antonio Spurs general manager Bob Bass On benefits of trade (via LA
Times):

“Everybody thought we were a marshmallow team. In making this trade we feel
we have really improved in (rebounding). He said he just wanted to win and
would show us how to win. In Dennis Rodman, I think we have one of the most
unique players that has ever played basketball. He proved his value to
Detroit last year. They were 4-15 without Rodman and 36-26 with him, and
their defensive average was 98 points with Rodman and 112 points without him.
Those are astounding statistics.”


Spurs head coach John Lucas:

“Rodman is the type of player who will be good for me.”

交易來 Rodman 的 GM 與當時的教練都把 Rodman 當寶，Rodman 感覺到被重視，
1993-94 球季他當然是全力以赴回報 GM 與教練的善意。

過了一年換了新的 GM 與教練，怎知對待 Rodman 的態度如天壤之別呢？

這種情況下希望任何一位球員能夠保持表現，應該是一件很困難的事吧！

By the time this season started, the Spurs were under new management.

The new CEO, Robert McDermott, an insurance magnate, liked to be called
"General," his rank in the reserves. Lucas was encouraged to leave. McDermott
hired no-nonsense Gregg Popovich as general manager. Popovich brought in
straight-arrow Coach Bob Hill.

Rodman was no easy convert. In Detroit, he had lamented Chuck Daly's exit so
keenly, he wouldn't talk to his successor, Ron Rothstein.

Rodman had a promise from the prior administration to extend his contract,
adding a season at $6 million. The new people said he had to prove himself
first and act like everyone else too.

By way of reply, Rodman blew off the pre-camp dinner and arrived late for the
first exhibition. They put him on leave, then suspended him for the first
month of the season.
