Chris Antonetti, one of two assistant general managers for the Indians,
understands the Mariners' thinking perfectly. They thought they needed a
veteran, and they were well-stocked with young middle infielders. All well
and good, but there were rumblings afterward that certain members of the
Mariners front office thought it was a mistake to part with Cabrera, even
before he came to the big leagues this year.
