Right-hander Max Scherzer had some words of advice for fellow St. Louis-area
product Jacob Turner, a highly touted high school right-hander -- and fellow
Scott Boras client -- who figures to be near the top of many draft boards in
next month’s draft.

“I told him, ‘Don’t be afraid to go to school,’” Scherzer said, relating
a conversation from when the two crossed paths at a function in the
off-season. “‘There’s still a path to the major leagues through college.’
”

Turner is reportedly seeking Rick Porcello/Josh Beckett money.
