Schuettler prepares to end his career in 2012

2003 Australian Open finalist Rainer Schuettler is making plans for the end
of his career, with the 35-year-old German confirming that he plans to
retires sometime towards the end of 2012.

"There is no fixed date for retirement or a decision on which will be my last
tournament," said Schuettler, whose last appearance at the ATP level was at
Wimbledon, where he won his only Grand Slam match of the season as he beat
Thomaz Bellucci in the first round.

"By 2013 I certainly will not be a professional player," the veteran told
dpa,the German news agency.

Schuettler won the last of his four ATP titles in Lyon in 2003, the same
years he played the Grand Slam final in Melbourne against Andre Agassi.

Schuettler is giving the 2012 season another burst of preparation, doing his
fitness and tennis work in Kenya. The one-time No. 5 owns a stake in a German
tennis academy along with former Davis Cup teammate Alexander Waske.

But Schuettler says he has no plans to take a more hands-on approach when he
quits the game, leaving the running of the enterprise to Waske, 36.
