Trophy presented

At the ANTWERP city hall the brand new trophy of the Proximus Diamond Games
has been presented.

The racket holds the tatal of 2008 diamonds:1611 on the ball and 397 on the
aureole.The trophy weighs 4.5 kilo and is worth one and a half million
dollars.

The list of contenders of the Proximus Diamond Game is complete now.Justine
Henin tops a sublime field.The world's number one will be playing her first
match on Thursday 14 Feb at 7:30 pm.The schedule for the days after that are
already fixed as well, in theory that is!

If Henin moves to the quarter finals,the match will be on Friday 15 Feb at
7:30 pm.

If Henin makes it to the semi finals,she will play on Saturday 16 Feb at 1
pm.A final would be scheduled on Sunday 17 Feb at 2pm.

Henin tops sublime field of contenders



Justine Henin will play at the Proximus Diamond Game in Antwerp.In the
Sportpaleis, the world's number one will see Serena Williams among her
competitors and this from 11 to 17 Feb.

This is a unique opportunity for Henin to be playing for a home audience of
Belgian fans.The title honor of the French Open,the US Open and the Masters
will play her first match on Thursday 14 Feb at 7:30 pm.

"We really appreciate this gesture a lot",organising director Bob Verbeeck
said."We realize that it is not easy for Henin to reschedule her season.To
be able to in Antwerp,she has to pull out of the Doha tourment."


"She told me that the attention and appreciation of the Belgian fans made
the balance shift.She was still very pleased with the fact that she was
awarded both Sports woman and Sports personality of the year."

2008 Diamonds

Henin can expect fierce competition from 7 players from the current top 20
of the WTA ranking.Serena Williams,Tatiana Golovin,Deniela Hantuchova,and
Anna Chakvatadze will also be joining at the Sportpaleis.The organisation
has one wild card left for one more top player.

Last year,Amelie Mauresmo was allowed to go home with the diamond racket.
Which is why a new one has been produced,with in total 2008 368 carat diamonds
.The unique trophy has a weight of 4.5 kilo and is worth about 1.5 million
dollars.Anyone who wins the tourment three times in five years,can take the
tennis racket home.On 29 Jan,the racket will be presented.

Belgian Talent

This year as well,the Proximus Diamond Games will offer Belgian talent the
opportunity to get a master of the top level.Kristen Flipkens,Debbrich Feys,
Soetkin Van Deun and Davinia Lobbinger received a wildcard for the
qualifying draw.Yanina Wickmayer and Caroline Maes already got one for the
main draw.
