East Rutherford, NJ (September 13, 2006) - The New Jersey Nets have signed
Mile Ilic, the team’s second round pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, to a
multi-year contract, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. As per club
policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
"We are pleased to add Mile to our roster," said Thorn. "He is an athletic
seven-footer who will add depth of our frontcourt in the future."
The 7’1” native of Serbia was selected with the 43rd pick of the 2005 NBA
Draft, but spent all of last season playing for FMP Zeleznik Beograd in the
Adriatic League. During the 2005-06 campaign, Ilic averaged 8.4 points and
4.4 rebounds and finished second in Adriatic League play with 1.6 blocks per
game in 29 contests. The 22-year-old also helped lead FMP Zeleznik Beograd to
their second Adriatic League championship in the last three years as he saw
his point and rebound averages improve for the third consecutive season.
A member of the Serbian national team, Ilic also played on the gold medal
winning team at the 2003 World University Games.
