Morten Frost has never been shy of a direct word.

Morten Frost從未忌諱有話直說。

When quizzed on his predictions for the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals that start
next Wednesday, the former player, coach and now commentator for badmintonworl
d.tv was as straight-shooting as ever.

當問及他對下週三廣州年終賽的預測時，這位前球員、教練，現任的世界羽聯評論員如同
以往直率。

“This year, in each of the five categories, there have been clearly dominant
players and pairs.

「在這五個項目裡，今年明顯都有主宰的球員與組合。」

“Tai Tzu Ying, Kento Momota, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamul
jo, Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, plus Japan’s three dominant Women’s Doubl
es pairings.

「戴資穎、桃田賢斗、蘇卡穆約和吉迪翁、鄭思維與黃雅瓊，還有日本三組主要的女雙。
」

“The top ranked players and pairs in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s
Doubles and Mixed Doubles all have more than 100,000 points in the BWF World
Rankings.

分。」

“I know the world of sport does not always work out the way you want it, but
they simply deserve to win the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals.

“There’s no great science there, they’ve simply been a class above the rest
.

“They’ve also had a small break from tournaments these past few weeks, so th
at’s given them a chance to recharge the batteries and get back to training,
” he said.

Unfortunately, due to the quirks of qualifying, the World No. 1 Women’s Doubl
es pairing of Yuki Fukishima and Sayaka Hirota failed to qualify.

Three of Japan’s Women’s Doubles combinations claimed the top three spots in
the HSBC Race To Guangzhou rankings.

However, with only two representatives from each nation making the top eight,
and Mayu Matsutomo and Wakana Nagahara (featured image) automatically qualifyi
ng courtesy of their World Championships victory, it was down to a battle betw
een Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi and Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota.

The former squeezed through in the final qualifying event of the season.

While praising the new HSBC BWF World Tour, Frost said a few tweaks to the sea
son to ensure more accurate rankings and that the best players and pairs quali
fied for Guangzhou would improve the revamped circuit.

在讚揚匯豐世界羽聯巡迴賽新制的同時，Frost說有幾個地方應稍做修改，以確保更為精
確的排名制度，讓那些最好的球員與組合符合參加年終賽的資格。

“In general, I am a great fan of having more tournaments and more prize money
,” Frost said.

「總體而言，我是一個支持更多賽事、更多獎金的球迷。」Frost說。

“The new tour is giving more options and possibilities and I do enjoy that. P
layers need to get used to playing more tournaments.

「新的巡迴賽制度給予更多選擇跟可能性，我非常享受這一點。球員需要習慣打更多比賽
。」

“This year we have seen better players being more tired, which is producing m
ore upsets, which is good for the game.

「今年我們看到一些好球員更為疲累，讓比賽爆了更多冷門，這對賽事而言是有優點的。
」

“But to ensure the best players and pairs are at the year-end finals, there’
s a few options that could be considered.

「但為了確保最好的球員、組合能夠出現在年終賽裡，需要考慮某些選擇。」

“Perhaps only the Super 1000, Super 750 or Super 500 events should count towa
rds the HSBC Race To Guangzhou. Or maybe the points are linked to the BWF Worl
d Rankings.”


「也許只要計算超級1000、750或500賽就好，或是拿世界排名當作年終賽排名。」


Either way, Frost says it will be an exciting week in Guangzhou.

不管用哪一種，Frost說這將會是廣州令人興奮的一週。

The HSBC BWF World Tour Finals begin on Wednesday 12 December, with the draw f
or all categories taking place on Monday 10 December at 10.15 (local time).
