Justine made a successful return on Friday morning to the USA and center
stage with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Angelique Kerber in one hour and 12
minutes. It was back to quality control Henin tennis standards with a 100%
breakpoints converted, 40 winners and 10 aces all gleaned from very physical
training efforts since her loss at Dubai in late February

"I did spend a lot of time on my serve in the last few weeks. But I had to
spend my time also a lot in the gym and really working hard, trying to get
confidence back in my strength. And I've been working hard.I feel much better
physically today than a few weeks ago. I can play with my forehand again, and
I feel that everything is better now. But I still have to improve my game. It
was my first match, and I didn't play for a few weeks, but I just feel much
better than I was a few weeks ago."- Justine

The match started with Kerber on serve, and the German passed ahead as
Justine dropped a service game with ambitious monster serves 0-2. But a
different JN1 emerged once she settled into the set. Accuracy switch flicked
on and the score became 4-2. A few more macho serve attempts from the grand
Belgian led to double faults, but at 4-4 with breakpoint saved, Justine
charged forward. It was all Henin in 42 minutes at 6-4.

The second set only got better for Justine. Again, the power serves - six in
the second set and more confident groundstrokes with another 100% breakpoint
conversation ratio. It was a sweep at 6-2 in 30 minutes.

There was a nice moment after the match when Justine received her 2007 USSA
Athlete of The Year award presented by the USA Today newspaper and MSNBC. She
thanked the Miami audience, and said it was great honor since it was voted by
the fans online.
