NewFest, the New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Film Festival
has announced its programming for its 21st annual edition, running June 4-11,
2009. The festival will open on June 4th and close on June 11th with
"Pop Star on Ice," a documentary about Johnny Weir, Olympic figure skater and
three-time national champion. Directed by David Barba and James Pellerito,
NewFest notes that "this playful documentary reveals how a young Russophile
and Chihuahua lover from rural Pennsylvania rose to pop stardom.

Pop Star on Ice will show some time during the Provincetown Film Festival,
held between June 17 and 21st.
