Jerzy Janowicz
When asked where he acquired his mental toughness, Janowicz divulged, “I was
a bad boy at primary school. In high school, I was fighting with everyone,
with the teachers. I was a really bad guy. Somehow it's really not easy for
me to explain why I'm that kind of guy. Yesterday, I played against Andy
Murray and I didn't feel pressure at all. I just was trying to play my best
tennis.”
XDDD
Jerzy Janowicz doesn’t want his dream run to end at the BNP Paribas Masters
in Paris. So much so that the reality of what he’s accomplished this week
has even claimed victory over his ability to fall asleep.
On Friday, following his quarter-final win over ninth-ranked Janko
Tipsarevic, Janowicz revealed he struggled to snooze Thursday night after
ousting World No. 3 Andy Murray from match point down.
“I could sleep, no problem. I slept very well two hours, so no problem to
sleep whatsoever,” Janowicz joked with a laugh. “I stayed on my computer
for a few hours. I just went to sleep at 5 a.m. I just was not able to sleep
[last] night, but as I can see, it doesn't matter if I sleep. I don't eat.
Right now I'm playing the best tennis of my life, and I hope tomorrow I can
play even better.”
“The semi-final is something unbelievable for me and for my family. My
family was crying after yesterday's match and after today's match,” said
Janowicz. “So this is an unbelievable week for my whole family. Maybe
because of this win, I will get some bigger sponsors because I was struggling
at the beginning of this year and last year a little bit with money.
Janowicz said his parents, who were professional volleyball players, sold
shops and apartments they owned to help his career take off.
"I'm from Poland and I know it's not easy to become professional tennis
player," Janowicz said. "Actually, I have problem with sponsors. I was
fighting my whole life with money, so this week is really important for me to
get some sponsors, to get some help."
“I remember I was really young. I was so happy I'm going to be able to play
against Andy Murray,” recalls Janowicz. “I remember I didn't believe I can
win this match. I was just thinking to play my best tennis and not to lose 6
ove, 6?Love, 6?Love.”
