Iman Shumpert to undergo surgery on left knee, sources say he could miss 6-8
weeks

ATLANTA -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert will undergo arthroscopic
surgery on his left knee Friday, the team announced Thursday prior to the
Cavs' game against the Atlanta Hawks.

The procedure will be completed at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, after
which an official timetable for an expected recovery will be provided, but
Shumpert could miss six to eight weeks, league sources tell ESPN's Adrian
Wojnarowski.

Shumpert, who has missed four out of the Cavs' past five games because of his
left knee effusion (commonly known as a fluid buildup), was re-evaluated
Tuesday by Cleveland team physicians Dr. Richard Parker and Dr. James
Rosneck. It was determined at that time that surgery is necessary.

Shumpert is averaging 4.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting
38.6 percent from the field in 20.8 minutes per game this season. He has
started six games at point guard because of injuries to Derrick Rose and
Isaiah Thomas.
