Hoping to latch on with the Royals, Chien-Ming Wang is throwing 95

Will a seemingly rejuvenated Chien-Ming Wang wind up making the KC roster?
(USATSI)
Veteran right-hander Chien-Ming Wang is in Royals camp on a minor-league
contract as a non-roster invitee. Considering that Wang will turn 36 at the
end of this month and considering that he hasn't pitched in the U.S. major
leagues since 2013, when he made six starts for the Blue Jays, he's a bit of
a longshot to crack the 25-man. On the other hand, there's this ...

Chien-Ming Wang said his velo was 88-89 last year. Now 94-95 thanks to
pitching guru Ron Wolforth. #Royals
Needless to say, that's a big leap forward for Wang. His sinker has always
tended to run a little hotter than his four-seamer, and on that front he
hasn't consistently seen the mid-90s since 2007 or so, per Brooks Baseball.
Should Wang make the active roster, it would likely be as a reliever, but he
could provide some depth for a questionable KC rotation.
Across parts of eight U.S. major-league seasons, Wang has gone 62-34 with an
ERA of 4.37 (100 ERA+) across 136 games, 126 of which have been starts. Wang
finished runner-up in the AL Cy Young balloting in 2006 as a member of the
Yankees. This spring he's registered a 1.80 ERA in five relief innings.
