FORMER WORLD NO. 1 JOINS SVITOLINA’S TEAM!
At the end of last year that was just a possibility – now it is a fact:
former World No. 1 Justine Henin becomes part of Elina Svitolina’s team. The
contract of the Belgian defines her as a special consultant. Henin will
accompany the Ukrainian in some of the tournaments with the first one taking
part next week in Dubai.
The formidable experience of the 33-year-old Henin will undoubtedly be
utilized by Elina not only in terms of play style, but also psychologically.
In December Svitolina shared that she will be very satisfied if Justine
adjoins her team.
In 2002, 2006 and 2007, the Belgian was No. 1 in WTA Rankings, won 7 Grand
Slam titles, and became Olympic champion in Athens 2004. In May 2008, she
announced the end of her competitive career - she was the first to have done
it while being No. 1. Two years later Henin returned to the professional
scene but in 2011 finally retired due to multiple injuries. Her backhand was
marked as the best in the world by John McEnroe, among male tennis players as
well.
With Henin being part of Svitolina’s crew the goal for the future seems
clear – TOP 10!
