Stiff British coastal winds gave the players another day of tough conditions
to deal with but Justine defeated Russian veteran Elena Likhovtseva 6-2 6-4
in one hour and 11 minutes. Justine will play Kim Clijsters in the
semi-finals on Friday.


The first set was a breeze for Justine. She sailed to a 4-0 lead quicker than
you could say the name of great British Wimbledon champion; Viriginia Wade.
Likhovtseva finally entered the match proper at 4-2 thanks in part to Justine
doing a double fault, but it was a tad too late. Justine won the first set
6-2 in 27 minutes.

The most dramatic moment of the next set was Justine slipping on the grass,
and giving her new found Eastbourne fans a bit of a scare. The Russian
veteran used the pause in Justine's momentum to change tactics, and wisely
charged the net. A great volleyer, doubles player, and 2002 Wimbledon mixed
doubles winner Elena played very offensive tennis to win the next games.
Justine recovered from the loss of concentration, returned to her winning
ways, and broke the Russian's serve at 5-3 to serve for the match. The
swashbuckling Belgian won the second set 6-4.


Final Score 6-2 6-4 in 1 hr 11 min

Justine will play Kim yet again, but this will be their first grass match
since the 2003 final in the Netherlands.
