Djokovic withdraws from Davis Cup singles

HALMSTAD, Sweden (AP)—World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has withdrawn with a left
knee injury from his opening singles for Serbia against Sweden’s Ervin
Eleskovic in the Davis Cup quarterfinals.

The Wimbledon champion will be replaced by Janko Tipsarevic.

Sweden’s Michael Ryderstedt faces Viktor Troicki in the opening match on
Friday.

It was unclear whether Djokovic would be back for the reverse singles on
Sunday.

enough how I value this competition and how much I like playing for my
country.”

很多人覺得Nole打完溫布頓應該休息，不過他說：「DC一直都很重要，我出現在
這裡，就代表我多重視這個比賽，我多想替國家征戰。」

The man charged with stopping Djokovic tomorrow is Davis Cup debutant Ervin
Eleskovic. Ranked No. 355 in the world, the 24-year-old was actually born in
Serbia but moved to Sweden at a very young age.

有趣的是，今天要對上Nole的是排名只有355的Eleskovic，但他居然出生在塞爾維亞
！！只是很小的時候就移民瑞典了。（1987/05/08生日，跟Nole差不了多少）

Eleskovic was excited to hear that he would be given the chance to pit his
skills against the in-form player in world tennis. “It’s like a dream come
true,” he said. “It’s my first time playing Davis Cup for Sweden in front
of a home crowd and to be playing the Wimbledon champion and world No. 1
Novak – it really is like a dream.”

Eleskovic非常興奮，由於Sod退出所以他有機會打DC，他說可以帶領國家以及對上
球王和溫布頓冠軍，實在是像做夢一樣。
