Caucau out for six months
Auckland's Rupeni Caucaunibuca will miss the rest of the Super 12 competition
with a shoulder injury.
And the winger, who is one of the most sought-after players in the world,
could be out of action for half a year.
Blues coach Peter Sloane said: "It's a real blow as anyone who has seen
Rupeni play knows what a special player and match winner he is.
"However, he needs to get his shoulder seen to and as a team we have to move
on," Sloane added.
Cacaunibuca is likely to undergo surgery next week after he was diagnosed
with ligament damage.
The flying Fijian has been courted by European clubs and may leave New Zealand
when his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union ends later this year.
Blues chief executive David White rated the chances of keeping Caucaunibuca
at 50-50.
England Jonny Wilkinson was reportedly in New Zealand last week to persuade
Caucaunibuca to move to Newcastle.
