Bruney's back tomorrow, but what about Wang?
May 18, 2009
Brian Bruney will be back in the bullpen tomorrow, which is very good news
for the Yankees.
[略]
With Bruney headed back from the DL, the Yankees now turn their attention
to Chien-Ming Wang, who will be in the Bronx tomorrow to throw a bullpen
session for Joe Girardi and Dave Eiland.
“There was some inconsistency with his sinker and we want to see him,
see how he’s doing,” Girardi said. “We’ll make a decision after that.
It’s something we want to talk about, talk to him, take a look at his
bullpen, get a feeling and make a decision.”
It doesn’t sound like the Yankees are comfortable with Wang’s sinker
despite 13 scoreless innings at Triple-A, so it wouldn’t surprise me
if they gave him one more start in the minors and reinserted him into
the rotation on May 27 in Texas. We’ll find out more tomorrow.
