Eight of the continent’s finest youth teams will battle it out for the 22nd
Lion City Cup Championship which kicks off next week.
The tournament will run from Monday, 10 March with the finals scheduled for
Saturday, 15 March.
Teams from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United Arab Emirates,
Uzbekistan, Vietnam and hosts Singapore are joining the long list of fine
age-group sides to have graced one of the region’s most prestigious
international youth competitions since its inception in 1977.
Group A sees the NFA Under-16 Team - competing as Singapore B, UAE, Chinese
Taipei and Australia while the NFA Under-17 Team – competing as Singapore A
have been drawn in Group B together with Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Thailand.
The NFA Under-16 side made history last year when they became the first
Singapore side to qualify outright for the AFC Under-16 Championship finals
where they will join Australia, tournament hosts Uzbekistan and nine other
teams this October.
Chinese Taipei and Australia will kick off the proceedings in Group A on
Monday at 5.00pm at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium with the Singapore B and UAE
clash scheduled immediately after.
Group B gets underway on the same day with the match between Singapore A and
Vietnam at the Singapore Sports School at 5.00pm with the contest between
Uzbekistan and Thailand scheduled immediately after.
Admission is free for all the matches at the 22nd Lion City Cup Championship.
