the first half, but called into action after the break and stood up to the
test

A chance to play on his favoured right hand side, but offers less than
Antonio Valencia as an attacking outlet - particularly with his delivery

Making his first appearance since rupturing knee ligaments in April, this was
an outstanding return. A last ditch block to deny Dimitri Oberlin was
crucial, while his long-ranger that hit the bar would have been the perfect
way to crown his performance
Smalling - 7
Dominant at the back - winning everything in the air. Always in control
Blind - 5
Produced some dangerous crosses and always looked to make something happen
going forward - but caught out at the back post for Basel's goal
Herrera - 8
Revelled in the movement in front of him, with a first half defence-splitting
pass for Martial the highlight
Fellaini - 7 (運氣差了點
An absolute nuisance to the Basel defence - literally could have had a
hat-trick in the first half if his finishing had been slightly better
Pogba - 7
Even on a relaid pitch, Jose Mourinho wanted the Frenchman dictating things
despite only just returning from hamstring injury. A no-look pass to release
Lukaku early on was sublime
Lingard - 6
Alert and positive, always showing for the ball, he popped up right across
the front line to stretch Basel until replaced by Rashford
Martial - 8
A performance full of menace. His wicked cross for Fellaini saw the Belgian
hit the woodwork, while his blistering first half break forced Tomas Vaclik
into a one-on-one save
Lukaku - 6 (浪費太多機會了....
Looks a different player with Pogba in the team and may be the main
beneficiary of the Frenchman's return from injury. Should've finished when
Pogba sent him through early on

Rashford (for Lingard 63) - 5
Gave United a bit more of a goal threat
Matic (for Pogba 66) - 5
Helped maintain control in the middle of the pitch without turning the game
Ibrahimovic (for Martial 74) - 5
Immediately sent Lukaku out wide, but couldn't provide the winner
