Andre Ethier runs hit streak to 29 - 美國職棒

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier extended his
hitting streak to 29 games, the longest in the major leagues in almost two
years, with a bloop single just over the glove of leaping Chicago Cubs second
baseman Darwin Barney with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning on
Tuesday night.
The hit came off Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster.
The hit was Ethier's eighth in 21 career-at-bats against Dempster to that
point. He went hitless the rest of the way as the Dodgers lost 4-1.

Ethier tied Zack Wheat, who hit safely in 29 in a row in 1916, for the
second-longest hitting streak in Dodgers history. He is now two shy of the
all-time franchise mark of 31 set by Willie Davis in 1969.
Ethier's streak is the longest in the majors since Ryan Zimmerman of the
Washington Nationals hit in 30 consecutive games from April 8-May 12, 2009.

right fielder has gone hitless in only one of the team's first 31 games.
Ethier remains 15 games shy of the National League record of 44 consecutive
games set by Pete Rose of the Cincinnati Reds in 1978.
