MADRID, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Andre Agassi said on Thursday he will play at least
another full year of professional tennis, as long as he stays healthy.

After powering past fellow American Vince Spadea to reach the quarter-finals of
the Madrid Masters, the 34-year-old eight-times grand slam champion said he wa
s committed to competing next year.

"I'm going to play a full schedule next year and then we'll see. You hope you s
tay healthy and you hope this is possible," said Agassi, who recovered from a m
id-season slump to win the Cincinnati Masters and reach the U.S. Open quarter-f
inals.

"The difficulty if you always assess every month or every week is that you don'
t concentrate on what you have to do.

"If I allowed myself the luxury of assessing in the middle of this year, I woul
d never have won Cincinnati or had a chance at the U.S. Open because things wer
e very down for me then."

Agassi began the year by reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open, San J
ose and Indian Wells but lost in the first round at Roland Garros and missed Wi
mbledon.

The former world number one has spent nearly two decades on the professional ci
rcuit, amassing nearly $30 million in prize money.

A strong showing in Madrid this week, where he next faces Spain's Tommy Robredo
, would boost his chances of qualifying for the year-end Masters in Houston for
the 14th time.

Agassi is currently ninth in the Champions Race standings with four of the eigh
t spots already taken.
