Spring Training: Rehab updates
-- Third baseman Mike Lowell (hip) continues to progress well and has increased
the volume of his work load, both on and off the field. If he doesn't have any
setbacks, he's on schedule to play in a game by mid-March.
-- Outfielder Mark Kotsay (back) is also doing well and his biggest goal at
this point is to recover his full range of motion. By the time the Sox break
camp, Kotsay should be able to swing a bat. It's still too early to decide
whether he'll remain in extended spring training when the club heads north.
-- Pitcher Miguel Gonzalez (elbow) will be looked at by arm specialist Dr.
James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.
-- Outfielder/first baseman Jeff Bailey, who fouled a pitch off his big toe on
Thursday, is fine and ready to play.
