Nava後又一奇蹟：Jonathan Aro的大聯盟之路

「當年我在Boston試訓後告訴我媽，如果這次失敗的話，我就會放棄棒球了。」

17歲那年原本幾乎確定會被道奇選上，但是上天開了一個玩笑─一場登革熱(Dengue
fever)讓他在醫院躺了22天，出院後無法投球。

更慘的是19歲那一年再度染上另一型的登革熱，躺了16天。將近20歲的他發現自己已
經是國際市場上的老球員，感受到棒球這條路的盡頭快到了，考慮讀藥學作為後路。

2011年，當時的國際球探部VP Craig Shipley認為他的體能和手臂狀況不錯，決定用
$10,000簽來當樂透。

「第一、我20歲了；第二，我只拿$10,000；第三，同梯的都一堆高薪球員，當時認為
自己沒任何上大聯盟的機會。」

他從DSL的piggyback starter開始當起，一路丟出不錯的成績((7.8 strikeouts and
1.6 walks per nine from 2011-13)。去年23歲時對戰高階A打者依然秀出讓打者揮
空能力，利用91-94 mph fastball積極攻擊，搭配changeup and slider迷惑對手。

'14在高階A結束球季的他躲過規則五選秀，接著短短不到一年的時間就成功殺進大聯
盟。

“I feel very proud of myself — proud of the job I’ve done and of the
work I’ve done to get to this point. It’s been a long journey, but I
feel like I’ve done my best to go about things the right way all the
time. It feels that much better that I’m able to fulfill my mom’s
dreams of making it to the big leagues one day. That’s a pretty awesome
feeling.”
