said. “But sometimes as a player, you need to get help from your teammates.”
“I hope that I never have to call a meeting,” Ortiz said. “You know what I
’m saying? Every time it happens, it’s because we’re not playing well.
Every time it happens, it’s because there are some things we need to focus
on and fix. As long as I’ve been here, I’ve called meetings probably three

No Ellsbury till July
Ellsbury suffered a partially dislocated right shoulder April 13. At the
time, the hope was he would be out 6-8 weeks. But he has yet to start
throwing or hitting and will not back until July, if then.
“He’s doing well. The range of motion has really come back, not all the way
but almost there,’’ Cherington said. “He has started strengthening and
feels good. I think the rough time frame [is] early July we’re hoping, but
there’s no specific calendar put on it yet.’’
Cherington “is not sure yet" when Ellsbury can start baseball activities.
He would need full range of motion in his shoulder to get to that level in
his rehab.
As for Crawford, out with left wrist and left elbow injuries, the timetable
is early- to mid-July, according to Cherington. Crawford, who twice has
experienced setbacks in his recovery, also has yet to start swinging a bat or
throwing.
