Top-flight tie in Capital One Cup draw

Liverpool will be our semi-final opponents in the Capital One Cup. The
first leg is away with the second leg taking place at Stamford Bridge.
The first game is to be played during the week commencing 19 January, with
the second leg in the week commencing 26 January. Exact dates and Ticket
News to follow.
Tottenham will play Sheffield United in the other semi-final.
Chelsea have played the Merseysiders in many big matches in various
competitions in recent times and the League Cup final in 2005 was also the
day Jose Mourinho won his first trophy with us, Liverpool beaten 3-2 at
Cardiff thanks to extra-time strikes from Didier Drogba and Mateja Kezman
which followed a Steven Gerrard own-goal that levelled the final at 1-1.
Liverpool pulled a goal back late on but to no avail.
The Reds won the most recent meeting, at the Bridge in November 2011, but
in a home quarter-final in December 2007 it was goals from Frank Lampard
and Andriy Shevchenko which won the day.
Two other Liverpool wins came at Anfield in November 2000 and January 1978.
Brendan Rodgers' side reached the semi-finals this season by beating
Bournemouth away 3-1, 24 hours after Chelsea had recorded the same
scoreline at Derby.
