Former Chelsea forward Adrian Mutu has been ordered to pay the Blues ￡15.2m
after losing an appeal with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The Romanian, 39, was sacked by the Blues in 2004 after testing positive for
cocaine and being given a seven-month ban by FIFA.
That began a series of rulings and appeals, with the Court of Arbitration for
Sport (Cas) initially ordering Mutu to pay damages to Chelsea for breach of
contract in 2009.
Mutu had alleged that Cas were not independent or impartial in their ruling
due to perceived links between one of their lawyers and Chelsea owner Roman
Abramovich.
